How to Create an Affiliate Marketing Website Right Now

You’ve finally found it! A straight to the point Step-by-Step Guide that will explain how to create an affiliate marketing website, RIGHT NOW!

I’m NOT talking about generating the website structure. This can be easily done in minutes as we’ll see in a bit (Step 2).

I’m talking about the steps you need to take to create a Successful Affiliate Marketing Website. One that, in some time, can totally change your life for the better.

This is what we’ll be talking about:

What’s Affiliate Marketing? And How does it Work?

Affiliate Marketing is a performance-based marketing in which affiliates promote third-party’s products/services and get rewarded for each visitor/customer they lead to the advertiser.

In other words, as an affiliate, I promote products/services to my readers. Each time one of them buys those products/services I get a commission.

The more visitors I bring to my website the higher the chance to receive commissions. READ MORE

#1 – Choose a Blog Niche

If you already have absolute certainty about what products you will promote and to which audience, you can go straight to Step #2.

But if there is still a tiny doubt or if you still don’t have any good ideas, just keep reading.

Process of Choosing a Blog Niche

I always follow these 4 steps in the process of correctly choosing a new blog niche. This is an amazing method because it gives me the necessary confidence to create a new website knowing that the possibilities of success are real.

I could just pick a product I like (iPhones, for example) and choose to promote them to work-at-home moms (which I can relate to because I’m also one of them).

I would end up putting a lot of effort into building the new website and at the end of a couple of months, I’d realize that I had made the wrong decision.

Why? Because the competition is enormous, including some big shot companies like Apple, Best Buy, Target etc.

I highly recommend you follow these 4 simple steps and choose a niche that not only appeals to you but also has a potential market to exploit. READ MORE

#2 – Create your Own Website from Scratch

Like I said at the beginning, generating a website’s structure is easily done.

You can choose to buy a domain or create a free one.

Although free domains tend to not rank well in search engines (e.g. Google, Bing & Yahoo), they’re great learning opportunities. You can start with a free website and afterward, when you feel you’re ready, you buy a domain and get your website transferred.

In fact, you can create your website right now.

I suggest you check out an article I wrote about the DOs and DON’Ts of affiliate marketing websites. I analyzed 3 websites and showed, in detail, the correct practices that you should keep in mind in order to achieve success.

#3 – Write Quality Content

Affiliate Marketers don’t need to be professional writers but we do need to be careful when we write. The goal is to make it a pleasant experience for our readers or they will simply leave our website.

The most important tip I can give you is ‘to write quality content‘. Give valuable information to your visitors and make them feel that their visit to your website is worth it.

If you do that, I assure you, they’ll keep coming back.

Another consequence of quality content is that Google loves it. Their algorithm changed over the years and at this point in time, websites with lower quality content tend to get bad rankings.

I’m referring to those sites that are too worried about showing ads and posting affiliate links as opposed to giving valuable information.

Some other important tips:

  • Aim at SEO-friendly keywords. This is the tool I use to find these special keywords.
  • Try to write articles with at least 1,000 words (this can vary a lot, but this is a good reference number)
  • Avoid writing paragraphs that are too long. Break them down into smaller chunks.
  • Make good use of images. I use Canva to create all my graphics. You can check it out clicking HERE.
  • Avoid distractions to the reader, things like too many banners or ads. He/she needs to focus on your content and ultimately get to your Call-to-Action. READ MORE.

I use a writing platform that I find extremely rich and easy to use. At the end of the day, its features help me concentrate on the most important thing, create good content. It’s called SiteContent and you can READ MORE ABOUT IT HERE.

#4 – Make Money from the Website

At this point, you’ve been creating quality content and it’s now time to start generating commissions.

All you have to do is find affiliate programs that relate to the product(s) you decided to promote. Remember? We talked about this in Step #2 (Choose a Blog Niche).

One way of doing this is typing on Google:

[product/niche] + affiliate programs

For example, if my niche were baby food, I would type “baby food affiliate programs”.

This is what would result from that search:

Baby Food Affiliate Programs Search Results

I got 3,340,000 results.

Okay, so how do you choose which program you want to apply for? The answer is easy… Ask!

Find out which ones are worth your time and dedication.

Go back to Google and type in:

[name of the affiliate program you are investigating] + review

This should give you a few results. Make sure to read as many reviews as possible before making a decision.

Another way is going to forums (like Quora, for example) and raising the question. People are usually willing to share their experiences.

In my case, since I’m a member of a 1.2M+ people internet marketing platform, I could just ask in their live chat and get instant answers.

As soon as you choose the program that best fits your business, apply for it. It may take a few days until you hear back from them or this could happen almost immediately.

>> Please note that some Affiliate Programs won’t approve your application until you have at least 10 pages/posts published on your website.

Once you get approved, insert their affiliate links/banners to your content. Just be careful to not overdo it.

Some people say that 1 or 2 per page is the limit. I agree that’s a good practice in most cases. Also, just use your best judgment and see what works best for your audience.

As you write more good content and get more traffic (visitors), you’ll start to convert sales and get your commissions.

#5 – Repeat with Consistency

Step 5: Repeat Steps #3 and #4

Once you get that first commission, DON’T stop writing. Keep going.

Repeat Steps #3 (write quality content) and #4 (make money from the website).

Even if the commissions take a little longer to start coming in, don’t give up. Keep writing.

Your efforts will soon pay off.

The key attitude here is having CONSISTENCY! As you keep doing this process, your website will build up more volume, more traffic, more authority towards readers as well as search engines (aka Google, Yahoo, and Bing).

Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.

Great post! I’ve been searching for ways to work from home for a long time now. My dream is to be my own boss and be able to make my own schedule. Affiliate marketing is the answer. I like the fact that I don’t need to come up with my own products or worry about shipping costs. I simply promote someone else’s products and get commissions for each sale.

Once your website has a large following and you are making a lot of commissions, is there a point when you may not need to add as much content?

    Thank you for your help.

    • Eliane says:

      Hi Weston,

You can’t stop adding content altogether or your rankings will drop down and your readers will stop visiting your website. That’s because at the end of the day what they really want is valuable information. If they can’t get it one place they’ll look for it at another one.

But I can tell you one thing. When you start a new website the most frequent you publish posts the better it is for your results. When you have a large following you will still have work to do (including answering the comments you’ll receive) but you won’t need to publish 3+ posts per week anymore.

This website ( is pretty new so I’ve been posting a lot until it gets more traction. But take a look at some older well-established websites of your preference and check out how frequent they publish.

Just as an example, there’s one I follow that looks like this:

      – Feb’18 – 4 posts so far

      – Jan’18 – 1 post

      – Dec’17 – none

      – Nov’17 – none

      – Oct’17 – none

      – Sep’17 – 6 posts

And they get amazing results, really high conversions.

Of course, they would probably get even higher conversions if they were publishing more frequently.

      I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.

This is one of the more detailed explanations of how to set up an affiliate marketing website that I have come across.

You reference a training platform to learn affiliate marketing.

Does Wealthy Affiliate teach how to build a affiliate website and how to find products to promote? Im a newbie just getting started.

    • Eliane says:

      Yes, Chris.

Wealthy Affiliate offers 2 complete Certifications where they teach, in details, how to do the entire process and be successful.

I suggest you join WA and start as a FREE starter member. You’ll have access to the 10 first lessons and will be able to better evaluate the platform, the training, the community and the support you’ll get.

There’s no limit of time for you to decide to become a paid member (Premium member). You can stay as a Starter forever. There’s no pressure at all.

, Of course, the Premium membership gives access to a lot more valuable features. But you’ll be able to make a sound decision once you’ve tested it for yourself.

When you’re inside the platform, make sure to drop me a message (my profile is ElianeLima). I’ll be glad to help you in any way I can.
