4 Successful Affiliate Marketing Websites | No Secrets

4 Successful Affiliate Marketing Websites

When first starting as an Internet Marketer it’s completely normal to first wanting to check on some examples. What are people doing and how are they getting good results?

I’ve been there. That’s why on the next minutes we’ll go over 4 Successful Affiliate Marketing Websites, check their structure and specifics.

By the end, you’ll find out that actually there’s no Secret Formula to it.

As I’ve been saying: it’s all about Knowledge and Strategy and those are available to anyone.

But we’ll get there soon enough. Just hang with me.

Why Look at Examples?

When you’re learning a totally new subject, things are at times quite blurry in our minds. It’s much more efficient to research for real cases and Learn From Them.

It’s like if I had never seen a chocolate cake in my life and someone handed me a recipe. I’m sure I would be able to follow the steps and get the cake done.

But wouldn’t it be much easier if I FIRST saw a really delicious beautiful cake? I would then know exactly what I was going to work for.

Of course, looking at a terrible looking cake wouldn’t have the same effect on me, and would probably mislead me.

One more thing before we start with our first example. Note that above I said “Learn“, not copy.

Every and each one of us has a particular way of doing things. And that’s what makes life so interesting.

Going back to our example, my sister and I follow the same Cake Recipe that has been in our family for generations. It always tastes great, whether I make it or she makes it (it’s an amazing recipe!). But everyone can tell who was baking that day.

With Affiliate Marketing is the same thing. There’s a right way of doing things (the recipe) but each one gives their own look and personality to their websites.

#1 – FootballSnackHelmets

#1 of a Successful Affiliate Marketing website

URL: https://footballsnackhelmets.com/

FootballSnackHelmets is a great example of an Amazon affiliate website, and it has earned his owner quite a good chunk of dollars (the helmets were even featured on Good Morning America).

It’s essentially an exhibition of the existing helmets according to a variety of football teams.

This site ranks #1 on Google Search for the key phrase “football snack helmets”. Even before Amazon (the seller!), which is pretty hard. And that alone is a clear proof that the owner knows what he’s been doing.

Website ranking #1 on Google

Highlights of this Successful AM Website:

  • It’s layout, colors, graphs, and fonts are consistent throughout the entire site
  • It’s very clean and easy to read
  • Uses a mix of buttons, clickable images, and text links for the affiliate links
  • Professionally-looking logo
  • There are no sidebars
  • There are no ads
  • Makes use of Social Media buttons
  • There is a direct link to Amazon marketplace, besides the affiliate links for each helmet model
  • On his “About” page, the owner explains his passion for football & the snack helmets and why he decided to create this website. This kind of information is highly relevant and makes it much easier for the visitor to find him likable, which overall increases trust and the chances of closing a sale.

#2 – How to Make Honest Money Online

#2 of a Successful Affiliate Marketing website

URL: https://howtomakehonestmoneyonline.com/

Not as elaborate as Football Snack Helmets this one is an example of a more relaxed type of site. I should say, less professionally-looking.

It gives the impression it’s owned by someone that decided to work from home and make a living by telling people how to also make money online. They do it by writing Reviews and Case Studies.

In my opinion, the layout and its framework perfectly match with this idea.

Highlights of this Successful AM Website:

  • Very clean looking, light gray background, black fonts
  • The same framework is used through the site, very consistent
  • Small paragraphs, lines in between them breaking things up. Easy to read.
  • Uses a mix of buttons (very few), clickable banners, and text links for the affiliate links
  • No logo
  • Right-hand sidebar
  • There are no ads
  • The graphics are basically screenshots and very simple banners with texts
  • It makes use of Social Media buttons
  • The “About me” page is actually the “Get Started” page and it intends to create a connection between him and the reader right off the bat.
  • Posts frequency is roughly 1 post per day
  • Around 1,000 words per post

#3 – I’ve Tried That

#3 of a Successful Affiliate Marketing website

URL: https://ivetriedthat.com/

This site was created to help protect consumers from falling victim to online scams. Since 2007 it’s expanded a lot and now they not only write reviews, by also articles giving advice and tips on how to make money in the following categories: side cash, internet marketing, e-commerce, work from home.

Highlights of this Successful AM Website:

  • Very clean looking, light gray/white background, black fonts
  • The same framework is used through the site, very consistent
  • Small paragraphs, breaking down the text into chunks of information. Easy read
  • Uses very few buttons. There are mostly text links and some (not a lot) clickable banners for the affiliate links
  • The logo is simple and fun. The name is very suggestive considering they started writing reviews to help people avoid scams
  • There’s a right-hand sidebar when the posts are open to being read
  • There are no ads
  • The graphics are screenshots, frequently just 1 or 2 pictures per post
  • It makes use of Social Media buttons
  • 1,000+ words per post
  • Approximately 1 post per day
  • The “About” page presents the owner and his team, and the reason they spend their time helping people like the reader

#4 – One More Cup of Coffee

Example #4 of a Successful Affiliate Marketing website

URL: https://onemorecupof-coffee.com/

I don’t know if it’s because I’m a huge fan of coffee but I love the name! It’s cute and intriguing.

The main goal here is to teach people how to start an online business and make money from home. And it’s got the most unique appeal among the websites examples were covering today.

Why do I say that? It’s the only one making use of ads (on sidebars and in the middle of the posts).

But there’s more. Here you go.

Highlights of this Successful AM Website:

  • Not so clean-looking. Okay, the background is also light gray/white and the fonts are black (this is definitely a winning formula!). But headings are Brown and the use of lots of graphics certainly draws one’s attention.
  • The same framework is used through the site, very consistent
  • The text is also broken down into chunks of information. Easy read
  • No use of buttons. Affiliate links are mostly present on text links and few self-made banners.
  • The logo (a cup of coffee) is simple and greatly connected with the name and the “make money” niche as you can see in the image above.
  • Right-hand sidebar
  • Lots of screenshots
  • It makes a discrete use of Social Media buttons
  • Commonly 2,000+ words per post
  • 1, 2 or even 3 posts a day
  • The “About Me” page is about how he got started in this business and the reason why he decided to start the website

With a professionally-looking or a more laid-back style, these 4 affiliate marketing websites have several other differences, like the use or not of ads, buttons, sidebars.
But…

Apart from them all being very profitable, they hold one more thing in common: Wealthy Affiliate, the Internet Marketing Course and Platform.

Of course, I’m not saying that you need to be a WA member to be successful. That would be a huge lie! In fact, there are tons of great sites with no connection to Wealthy Affiliate.

It would be like saying that to become a respectful executive you’d need to attend Harvard Business School. That’s just crazy! We all know that there are millions of valuable top professionals in this area that have never been to an Ivy League School.

On the other hand, wouldn’t you agree that going to one of those Top 8 Universities would make things much easier for anyone to succeed as a corporate executive?

In the same way, going through Wealthy Affiliate’s Training and enjoying all the outstanding features offered by this platform is not the only way to succeed in Internet Marketing.

But it sure is The Best Way to get there!

A year from now you may wish you had started today.

    Hi Eliane!
I think you really did an awesome job on your review of these four websites. I really hope that they will appreciate the love that you gave them and the free promotion.
On top of that, I really like the layout of your site as well. And I think it was very honest of you to state that Wealthy Affiliate is not the only way you can be successful in affiliate marketing.
Also loved the analogy at the introduction of the chocolate cake recipe.
    Great job!

    • Eliane says:

      Hey, Mikey!
I’m really happy that you liked them.
Yeah, those sites got some free promotion. 🙂 But more than that, and what really matters to me, is that my readers get a chance of learning right from the beginning what really works and what doesn’t.
      Thanks again!

  3. Melinda says:

Thanks for pointing out the winning features of successful online affiliate marketers.
I appreciate knowing what is working for people and the features that are helpful to have on my website!

    • Eliane says:

Yes, Melinda, modeling successful people is a proven technique that works in any area. Affiliate Marketing is no different.

I, for one, besides going through new training every day, I constantly check some of my preferred websites to keep improving my skills. As an example, this is a piece of training I accessed today on Email Marketing Strategies. It may be of your interest.

  4. Ali says:

Hi Eliane, I loved how your personality shone through in this post, it totally backed up your analogy of the cake recipe.
A great post with heart and sincerity.
I will look out for more great learnings from you.

    • Eliane says:

      Hi, Ali.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I hope to see you soon around here.
      All the best.

  5. Hi Elaine,
That was a clean and flawless showcasing of the 4 Affiliate Marketing Websites. You’ve carried your readers to acquaint each of the sites in a brief and yet to the point demo. Much appreciated for what you’ve shown here. There are four angles in which each reader has the option to choose from – a website with a model to duplicate has a sidebar ads and consistent throughout and another has no ads but talks on scams, reviews and so on.

This article has a coverage of tons of useful information that stir up energy to go for more inventories while upholding the models.
I love what you are doing.

Continue keeping us fed with such awesome delight.
All the best in your online career.

    • Eliane says:

Thank you so much for your words.

I believe that it’s important that every beginner affiliate marketer understands that we can all impress our own style to our websites while following the same winning techniques.

  6. Chris Towers says:

There is some amazing information here.

I think when it comes to building a site, some areas have to come to a personal choice. Color Schemes, themes, layout etc can be nice for one person, but other people will not like it. Each to their own.

There are some important areas that need to be followed through, and you mention some important aspects. Ads, for example, can be the make or break of a site. Social media buttons need to be placed correctly to maximize performance.

I think this post offers some great guidelines and what to look out for.

    Thanks

    Chris

    • Eliane says:

      Exactly, Chris.

Like you said, “there are some important areas that need to be followed through”. How would anyone know which areas if not by learning from others?

Well, you can always learn from your own mistakes, but it would take a long time until you got it all right.

That’s why I recommend studying successful affiliate marketing websites and joining reliable training platforms such as Wealthy Affiliate.

  7. Orion says:

Oh! You are so right with this post, Eliane, following a good example is much preferred when you know what you are aiming for.
I would say it’s like parents being a good example to their kids, they not only TEACH them what and why and how to do things but also need to be a role model themselves.
You know these types of parents who scream at their child when he/she is crying “I told you not to scream”!!
We need to set an example – and we need to know what examples to follow too.
In online marketing training platforms – Wealthy Affiliate is one of the better if not the best platform where to learn all about online marketing. They are like the parents with the what, how and why for us “marketers”
    Thanks for this post!

  8. Christina says:

    Hi Elaine,
I have been doing affiliate marketing for a few months now.
Seeing these sites as an example give me, a newbie, many great ideas, and inspiration.
The different style shows that even in this type of business you have the ability to show your own uniqueness as well and still achieve success. I like that.
I thought I was going to have to be “cookie cutter” type look.
I bet there are many others like me, either just thinking about it or starting off that had the same ideas.
Did you learn about the design process and everything from Wealthy Affiliate?
Thank you again for the great examples.

    • Eliane says:

      Hi, Christina.

It’s great to know that these examples gave you ideas and inspiration.
I learned roughly everything I know about internet marketing in Wealthy Affiliate, including about Canva, the tool I use for my graphics.
Here’s a training I believe you’ll enjoy watching: Hello Canva.

  9. H Eliane!
What a novel and inventive way to demonstrate how effective the training is at Wealthy Affiliate.
As a fellow member, I can attest to the truth of what you say, too.
I’m not where these examples you cite are YET, but I do know that by consistently using the tools I learn at Wealthy Affiliate, and doing the work, I will be.
It’s just the way it works. It takes time, and it’s worth it.
    Annie

    • Eliane says:

      Hi, Annie.
I agree with you, with consistent work, using the correct tools and techniques, being successful is just a matter of time.
      All the best!

  10. Tara says:

Eliane, Great break down and review of the 4 website examples.
It seemed the only piece in common was at the end that you mentioned that they are connected to WA.
    Each unique, yet successful.
That is quite impressive what each website has achieved.
I hope to dig into the Wealthy Affiliate material more tomorrow.
Thank you for this great post.

    • Eliane says:

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.

I’d say that there are 2 apparent pieces in common: consistency, and clean/easy to read content.

      But…

There are several other NON-apparent aspects that lead all 4 websites to their success stories. And that, of course, is completely connected to the fact that they’re all in Wealthy Affiliate.

  11. John says:

    Eliane,
One thing that is common in three of these sites is the fact that they post almost every day.
Some have over a thousand post, and they have been around for several years. It does take some time to get traction in the Affiliate Marketing world today.
Wealthy Affiliate training is a great help in teaching you what steps to take.
The four people that you have outlined here are some of the most helpful people to others, giving their time and energy to help other be successful also. Have you noticed the most helpful people are sometimes the most successful in the online world?
    John

    • Eliane says:

      Yes, John.

Posting frequency is one very important factor, especially for new websites. But it’s good also for the most seasoned ones as you correctly pointed out.

Some people say that 2-3 posts per week are good enough. Others go for one a day. I post 3-4 times per week and it’s been working pretty well.

I absolutely agree with you that helping others is a common trait in successful people. I believe that this is how it happens in any area of our lives, including business.

  12. Michelle says:

    Hello Eliane,
Great article. I loved how you compared the sites. It was interesting for me to see the ‘common thread’ between them all. This article has been a learning experience for me and I intend to implement a few of the suggestions – not copy – but putting my ‘own spin’ on it. Yes, no need to reinvent the wheel. Thanks
    Michelle

  13. Great information, Thanks <3

    • Eliane says:

      You’re welcome, Husain.

      I’m glad you liked it.

  14. Anita says:

Affiliate marketing certainly can be like following a recipe. I tend to take recipes and make them my own. That is what I am trying to do with my website. You have given me four great recipes to go by and perhaps make into my own recipe for success.

Your personality and enthusiasm certainly showed throughout your post making it a fun read! I wish you all the best in your marketing career!

    Anita

    • Eliane says:

Thanks, Anita! I’m glad you liked the post.

It’s good that you make the recipes your own. In Internet Marketing is the same, although you need to be careful to not mess up with the essential steps to get high rankings and conversions. These are the lessons we all need to learn and stick to their step-by-step without trying to change them. Otherwise, we won’t be successful.

These 4 successful affiliate marketing websites all followed the recipe they learned at Wealthy Affiliate. That’s the main thing they all have in common.
