What is Kinsta? (17 Reasons Why I'm NOT Migrating)

I just recently realized that other affiliate marketers are also wondering “What is Kinsta?”. So I decided to explain in simple words what it is and how it works so that any beginner can easily understand.

Simply put, Kinsta is a cloud-based hosting platform with a focus on speed, security, and stability.

I’ll explain in more detail on the next lines.

This is what we’ll be covering:

The Company | Kinsta

Kinsta was founded in 2013 by veteran WordPress developers.

Their purpose has been, since the beginning, to provide a cutting-edge WordPress hosting platform with a focus on speed, stability, and security.

What they Promise

These are the 3 main promises they make to their clients:

Kinsta main promises

Peace of Mind

They say they’ll take care of the technical stuff so that you can take care of your business and grow it.

“But how?”, you may be thinking.

✅ They check all websites they host EVERY 5 minutes, which allows them to take quick actions whenever an issue comes up. This means a minimum number of visitors being affected.

✅ All Websites are backed up at least once a DAY. If something terrible happens, the client will be able to click a button and quickly restore their website back.

There’s the possibility of getting additional backups (every 6hr or even every hour), for an additional fee. This may be interesting for specific needs (not the regular beginner internet marketer though).

✅ They rely their structure on Google Cloud Platform which allows their clients to have lots of flexibility in terms of sudden increase in traffic.

Let’s say the product you promote is featured on Good Morning America – or any other popular TV show – for example. When using a traditional hosting (not cloud-based) it’s not rare that the spike in traffic to your website makes it seem to disappear and only go back to normal when the traffic reduces.

On cloud computing such as the ones offered by Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, that doesn’t happen. They adjust the number of servers needed to support the traffic and the website owner doesn’t have to worry about any of this.

✅ As they closely monitor every website, in case of a hack suspicious, they can act immediately. And, they promise, if a hack does happen, they’ll fix it with absolute priority.

Support that Cares

With a team of WordPress experts, Kinsta offers 24/7 support on any issue, from server maintenance, theme, and plugin building to maintenance.

And they guarantee no issue will stay unsolved, as they take technical support as their main priority.

User-friendly, Yet Powerful

MyKinsta is their unified easy-to-use platform that allows their clients to manage every aspect of their websites.

There, a beginner or an expert user will have access to valuable information and feature such as Performance Monitoring, Traffic and Bandwidth Analytics, SSL Integration, and more.

✅ Check out what their dashboard looks like (truly user-friendly):

Kinsta's Dashboard

✅ Every client gets to choose one among their 15 Google Cloud Platform data centers, for each of their sites. The goal here is to offer the best loading times and near real-time access, by choosing a server that is geographically closer to the website’s visitors.

✅ Each WordPress install gets a staging area. This means that you can test and simulate themes, plugins etc without affecting your live site. Once the tests have been approved by you and your team, you can turn the staging into live production by a simple click of a button.
>> I personally love this feature! It can save us a lot of time as it spares us from redoing the chances on the live site.

✅ For the more advanced and developers, the good news is that clients have access to tools and software such as WP-CLI, SSH, and Git.

Cloud Hosting

Here’s a very quick video explaining the differences between Cloud hosting Vs Traditional hosting:

After watching this video, there’s no doubt that cloud hosting is indeed much better than traditional hosting, wouldn’t you say?

Pricing | Options from Small to Large

Before we go on to the several Plan options they offer, it’s important to make clear what features are included in all plans.

We’ve already talked about each one of them so it will be easy to understand how beneficial it is to have them from the most basic plan.

Features included in all Kinsta Plans
Prices range from $30.00/mo to $900.00/mo, depending on the number of WordPress installs, visitors per month, among other aspects.

An affiliate marketer with 1 website and up to 20,000 monthly visits would probably be happy with a Starter Plan ($30.00/mo).

The Pro Plan would be a better fit for a marketer with 2 websites and 40,000 visitors/mo.

The most valued Plan costs $900.00/mo and offers 80 WordPress installs, 1,500,000 visits, and 120 GB disk space.

>> Yearly plans are discounted in 16.67%. So, on a Starter Plan, if some paying monthly would cost $360.00/year, and paying yearly would cost $300.00/year.

Check out all the available plans HERE.

Kinsta has clients all around the world, which is one of the reasons why they offer 24/7 expert support.

Among their long list are big players such as Ricoh, GE, Intuit, Workforce, Valicor, Ubisoft, and Michigan Aerospace.

Here are some of the reasons why these (and other) companies are happy with the service they get from Kinsta:

✅ 15-80% decrease in load times

✅ 50% decrease in support tickets

✅ 200% speed increase

✅ 21% reduction in bounce rate

✅ 70% lower costs

✅ 9 minute response time for support
>> Pretty impressive, I’d say.

Kinsta's Pros and Cons

More than anything else, I believe the outstanding robust platform offered by Kinsta is unquestionable. They do deliver what the promise: security, stability, and speed.

And that’s the desire of ANY serious business.

Let me highlight the most important aspects:

✅ Websites checked every 5 minutes

✅ 1+ backup per day

✅ Cloud-based power and flexibility

✅ Fast page load speed

✅ User-friendly dashboard

✅ Data center choice

✅ Staging area

✅ Free SSL and CDN

✅ Tools and software to developers (WP-CLI, SSH, and Git.)

✅ Effective and fast Support

✅ Choice of monthly or yearly payments

❌ Price is relatively high for only hosting service

❌ If you have more than 1 website you’ll need to upgrade

❌ You have to use a separate registrar to register your domain. You can’t use Kinsta

Making a Decision

There’s no doubt that Kinsta is an excellent hosting platform with outstanding services.

It’s also unquestionable that for a beginner Affiliate Marketer, it’s too high of an investment. (Even to host just 1 website, one has to pay $300.00 – $360.00 per year)

It seems to me that it’s the ideal hosting platform for Fortune 500 companies, universities and large agencies, with high traffic websites and in-house IT team.

If that’s your case, start Kinsta clicking the button.

But Wait! Are you an Internet Marketer?

If you are, you’ll like to know that there’s another option: Wealthy Affiliate (WA).

Have you heard of it before?

WA is an internet marketing platform that offers hosting, domain, training, support, a community of like-minded people that share experiences and help each other.

I’m a member of Wealthy Affiliate and…

These are the 17 reasons why I’ve decided to NOT migrate to Kinsta:

WA offers, among other things:

✅ 24/7 Managed and Automated Monitoring

✅ 24/7/365 Site Support with less than 5-minute average response

✅ Hacking, spam, virus, malware, and malicious activity protection

✅ Daily backups

✅ Number of websites: 50 (25 free subdomains + 25 own domains)

✅ Website space: 30GB

✅ Up to 500K visitors/month

✅ Free SSL certificates

✅ Site Builder included

✅ Training included

✅ Community access

✅ Writing platform included

✅ Keyword tool included

✅ Register your Domain directly at WA

I love how you presented this post. Very fair and balanced.
I agree with you about not migrating, though. Wealthy Affiliate is the best.
My site is also hosted through them. Never had a problem. The training is outstanding. The help truly is 24/7/365.
Thanks for getting the word out there.

    • Eliane says:

I’m glad you liked it, Wendi.
And yes, hosting, training, support are outstanding in Wealthy Affiliate.
Anyone really serious about Internet Marketing appreciates how much value we get for the price we pay.
      Good luck with your website!

  2. Eden says:

I found it interesting reading about Kinsta and they seem to be a good site, you have included a lot of in-depth information about them.
I do agree with you that it would probably suit bigger companies rather than people just starting out in affiliate marketing, because of the cost.
Wealthy affiliate provides great value for money and I’m so glad I registered up a month ago.

    • Eliane says:

It’s great to hear that you signed up for Wealthy Affiliate a month ago.

For people looking for a complete solution in Internet Marketing (hosting, domains, training, support, website building, support, and community) Wealthy Affiliate is the best platform out there. One of a kind.

Tip: remember to ask any questions you may have either on live chat, in classrooms, or even in private messages to more experienced members (including the owners, Kyle and Carson). You’ll always receive an answer and good guidance.

All the best and until next time.

  3. Matts Mom says:

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal.
I am already with Wealthy Affiliate, so I won’t change.
I do have one question though, how does hosting with them differ from hosting with WA? Mostly the community and the training? Or is there anything else that sticks in your mind?

    • Eliane says:

Kinsta is a hosting platform. A great one but all it offers is hosting.

Wealthy Affiliate, on the other hand, is a complete package: hosting, domains, website building, training, support, active community, keyword research tool and much, much more.

This is why I’m a WA member and plan on sticking with it. It offers so much value for what we pay them.

  4. vivek says:

    Great review Eliane.
Compared to Wealthy Affiliate Kinsta does seem extremely expensive.
Is there any major advantage to every website being checked at 5-minute intervals? I mean, it’s nice to have regular checks but 5 minutes?
I’m guessing this is what adds to the cost of this service.

    • Eliane says:

I’m glad you liked my Kinsta review.

The way I see it, the 5-minute check is very interesting for those high traffic websites I mentioned, Fortune 500 companies, large agencies, universities. They not only have large volumes of traffic but they also deal with very sensitive information and potentially are more targetted by hackers.

Again, for affiliate marketers like us, I have no doubt that Wealthy Affiliate is a much more cost-effective option.

Thanks for stopping by and lots of success with your online business.

  5. Heather says:

I think it’s interesting that you rate Kinsta so high even though you do not recommend it.

It looks expensive and if all you are getting is hosting – that’s super expensive.

Before I found WA – I had hosting to multiple websites for less than they are charging for the hosting to one. And my support was good at that host.

I just moved to WA because of the training and the community – there is much more room for improvement in my business with a step by step training on what to do, when to do it and why to do it.

I have been fumbling around by myself on the Internet for many years. It’s about time I get a mentor and a college-like course that fills in the holes in my knowledge.

I am already seeing improvements and return on my investment of time and minimal money. I agree – WA is the way to go.

    • Eliane says:

      Hey Heather,

I do recommend Kinsta for companies with high traffic websites and in-house IT team, such as Fortune 500 companies, universities and large agencies.

But, like I said, for affiliate marketers like ourselves, Wealthy Affiliate is – with no doubt – a much better opinion.

You nailed it when you said that in WA you “get a mentor and a college-like course that fills in the holes in my knowledge.”

That’s exactly how I feel as well. And we’re not alone.

If it was any different, the platform wouldn’t have over 1.2 million members.

In this case, numbers speak for themselves.

  6. Glenys says:

    Hi Eliane,
Thank you for this review about Kinsta. I had not heard of them before. I do like that they are a cloud based program. I always get nervous when I download apps to my personal computer – you never know what extra “bugs” and viruses come with that download – no extra charge for the spyware!
I like that they are WordPress based because all my main sites are WordPress websites.
I like the visual dashboard that they have created. It is great that they check their site every 5 minutes.
I am with Wealthy Affiliate and host my sites there at the moment because they are still fairly small. I can see how this option would be really great when I get HEAPS of website visitors and shared hosting is no longer working for me. Thanks for sharing.

    • Eliane says:

I’m glad you liked it, Glenys!

Yes, I feel like when we get to the point where we have tons of traffic (like fortune 500 companies) Kinsta will be a good hosting platform.

But I have to say that even when that happens, I plan on staying at Wealthy Affiliate for the other features we get, such as active community (we get instant help for any doubts we may have), up-to-date training (especially the weekly live one), keyword research tool (Jaaxy), and the writing editor (SiteContent).

I wish you lots of success!

  7. Orion says:

Great review of Kinsta Eliane, enjoyed reading it and it was very informative.
You are right, for a beginning affiliate marketer it is a little pricey.
But Kinsta seems to be a really good platform to host to when we will be “laughing all the way to the bank” haha!
I like the way you present/design your review, easy to read and follow.
    Wishing you $ucce$$

    • Eliane says:

Yes, Orion, it’s a very good hosting platform for big businesses.

The way I see it, for smaller ones (like internet marketers, bloggers, local businesses), Wealthy Affiliate is a much better (and complete) choice.

Here is the opinion of a Wealthy Affiliate member regarding WA’s hosting service.
